2012 Nationals Port Kembla Sailing Club General Information.

The 2012 nationals promises to be a fantastic event at a great sailing venue. Lake Illawarra is coastal lake permanently open to the sea via a channel and a recently (approx. 5years ago) constructed breakwater at Windang. It provides safe, open sailing conditions with consistent sea breezes. During January the winds are predominantly from the northeast averaging 15knots.
The sailing club has a large grassed rigging area with good access for launching boats.

Accommodation

Accommodation options are numerous, given that the club is based near to Wollongong and Shellharbour. The cheapest option though is to camp at the club. A large area of grass directly in front of the club will be reserved for camping and the club facilities accessible for campers.

For those needing other forms of accommodation, I would suggest staying in the Windang, Barrack Point, Shellharbour area. This area has a touristy feel and is located on the beach and is approximately 15 minutes drive (or 30 minutes for those keen cyclists on the cycle way) from the club.

Below are links to some accommodation that is available. I have included Wollongong surf leisure resort located 18minutes north at Towradgi. They have plenty of beds from 8th on, limited for the 7th.
