Three lap buoy race 20-25 km per lap depending on the weather, competitors pass through the finish line on each lap so there is a result if the wind drops out. Trophies will be for handicap winners on 1, 2 and 3 laps. 2009's race had a 13 to 17 knot wind, 10-12km long spin run in each lap on flat water. For 2010 confirmed entries include, Taipan 5.7s, Taipan 4.9s, F18 Infusions, Nacra 5.8s, Stingrays big and little rig, Cobras with spin, Mozzys, Arrows, Weta trimaran etc Both these races are sailed inside the Margaret Brock reef which is 6km out from Cape Jaffa with no ocean swell just wind chop, no surf or rocks on the beach non sailors with 4wd can drive along the beach to observe and competitors that retire can just pull up on the beach to await pickup. Kingston SE is located 300 km South of Adelaide about 3 hrs drive and approximately 500 km North of Melbourne about 5.5hrs to get to the tunnel. |
